The Bio Dude Reviews

My order from The Bio Dude showed up in a beat-up box. The corners were crushed, the tape was coming loose, and some of the packing material was sticking out. I was expecting things to be packed a little more securely, especially for what I paid. I also would’ve appreciated clearer instructions on what to check or do if the package arrives damaged, because I ended up opening everything right away just to make sure nothing was broken. It looked like it had been tossed around the whole way here, which was frustrating.

I ordered a few plants, and unfortunately most of them didn’t arrive looking great. A lot of the leaves were yellow, a couple stems seemed kind of mushy, and one plant was basically gone by the next day. I tried to revive them as best I could, but I didn’t have much luck. Maybe it was just bad timing or shipping conditions, but it definitely wasn’t what I was expecting.

I liked the stuff I ordered, and everything looked good once it finally arrived. But the shipping took way longer than I expected, my package just sat there with no update for days, which was frustrating.

I picked up one of these bioactive kits for my crested gecko tank, and it’s been good so far. The plants seem to be settling in okay, at least from what I can tell, and the little cleanup bugs are doing their thing in there.

Putting it together wasn’t too bad, though I did have to stop and look a couple things up because I wasn’t totally sure how some of it was supposed to go. The soil definitely keeps the humidity better than what I had in there before, which was kind of the main thing I needed.
I’m giving it 4 stars mostly because the shipping was a little rough and one of the bags had leaked some by the time it got here. Not a huge deal, just a bit annoying, but overall I’m still happy with how it turned out

Customer service was just okay. I already had a feeling they’d be slow to respond, and yeah, that pretty much ended up being the case. To be fair, they did eventually help me and got the issue sorted out, but the waiting around was a bit frustrating.

I bought this substrate from thebiodude.com for my bioactive setup, it just didn’t hold up for me. Before anyone says it was user error, I wasn’t soaking the enclosure or doing anything unusual, just normal misting like I do with my other setups. It still ended up compacting quickly and stayed soggy in certain spots. My plants didn’t root well, and even the cleanup crew didn’t seem too happy with it. For what it costs, I really expected it to perform better.

As someone who keeps bioactive setups and really relies on healthy cleanup crews, this was disappointing. I ordered springtails and isopods, but a lot of them arrived dead or barely moving. The packaging seemed okay, I guess, but the live arrival just wasn’t great. I also reached out to support and it took a while to hear back, which made the whole experience more frustrating.

I was disappointed because I opened my order and realized they sent me the wrong items. From my experience, it felt like something got mixed up on their end, and it was just frustrating because I didn’t get what I actually ordered.

I ordered a few bioactive supplies from The Bio Dude i’m happy with everything. The prices aren’t exactly the cheapest I’ve seen, but the quality did seem better than some of the stuff I’ve picked up from other places, so I feel like that makes it worth it, you know? Shipping wasn’t crazy fast or anything, but it was fine. I’d probably order again, I just kind of wish a couple of the items were a little less expensive...

I ordered some substrate and a few decor pieces. The substrate was fine, I guess, but the cork pieces felt kind of cheap and a couple broke easily. For what I paid, I was expecting something a little nicer.
